• My Green Lab held its My Green Lab Sustainability Summit for scientists at the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories meeting I2SL2018 last week.

  •  My Green Lab’s Erika Daley presented The Top Five Ways to Reduce the Environmental Impact of your Lab

  • Recycling 101 was presented by the research and consulting company More Recycling

• The AASHE 2018 Conference and Expo took place in Pittsburgh this month.  AASHE is an organization shares best practices and resources for sustainability in higher education - a sector that includes 207 million people worldwide!

  • This impressive poster session presentation, Integrated Plastics Recycling and Research Facility at UC Berkeley showed that UC Berkeley is setting up its own plastics recycling facility. This effort incorporates the production of 3D printing filaments, and local manufacturing business partnerships.

  • A research award went to the University of South Hampton authors of Towards a universal carbon footprint standard: A case study of carbon management at universities. The study proposes a framework for conducting university carbon footprints, taking into account the energy-intensive activities of research institutions versus teaching-intensive institutions.

• Sustainable Labs Canada is hosting Sustainability and the Human Element Conference now. Keynotes talks include highlighting the importance of collaboration between lab facilities teams and researchers, as well as the ease of putting Sustainability Platforms in place.

• The Lab Innovations Conference is being held next week in the U.K. The Sustainable Lab feature is a new area featuring improvements in technology, procurement and best practice to “reduce running costs whilst safeguarding the science”. You can still register to attend!
